With over a decade of experience in school districts throughout New York, Greg Gerkens is a dedicated special education teacher who, in addition to teaching, has led numerous extra-curricular programs. Outside of the classroom, Greg Gerkens is a supporter of the National Football League's (NFL) New York Giants.
The Giants made the league's first big splash in NFL free agency on March 8, agreeing to a two-year, $12 million contract with wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who played for the New York Jets the previous two seasons. Marshall, a former fourth round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2006, joins a budding core group of wide receivers that includes Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard. In a conference call, he told reporters he had better free agent offers in terms of money, but felt signing with the Giants presented him with the best chance of winning a Super Bowl.
Marshall has played for four teams throughout his 11-year career, compiling 12,061 yards and 82 receiving touchdowns. He is 24th in all-time in receiving yards and fourth among active players. The 32-year-old's best season came in 2015 with the Jets when he recorded a career-high 14 touchdowns.
